is presenting the Fourth Annual OFF THE WALL Holiday Group Artist Exhibition in historic downtown Cobden.
The public is invited to attend an artist appreciation reception at both Cobden locations on Saturday, November 17, from 6 to 8 p.m
This year’s Holiday Group Artist Exhibition represents more than sixty Southern Illinois artists.

innovative fiber works of art; digital and film photography by five art photographers.
Fine crafts are represented in functional home accessories and sculptural ceramics, lathe turned wood bowls and pens, and wrought mild steel sculpture.
More than a dozen local jewelers and fiber artists have produced unique wearable art and fashion accessories.
A number of these local artists residing in Union, Jackson, Johnson, Williamson, and Franklin counties have earned national distinction with their art and many are members of Illinois’ State Artisan Program.
The fourth annual OFF THE WALL Holiday Group Artist Exhibition can be viewed Wednesday through Sunday at anthill gallery and Wednesday through Saturday at The Yellow Moon Cafe’s Luna Gallery beginning November 9 through December 23.
The Luna Gallery portion of this Holiday Exhibition features recent oil paintings by Cobden singer/songwriter, Wil Maring. Specific hours of operation can be found at anthillgallery.com and yellowmooncafe.com.

New Exhibit at anthill gallery & vintage curiosities
anthill gallery & vintage curiosities, in conjunction with Luna Gallery at The Yellow Moon Cafe, both of Cobden, Illinois, are featuring the works of two Southern Illinois artists during the month of October.
The exciting and innovative new work of Linda Bollenbach can be seen at anthill gallery. Ms. Bollenbach is already well known for her lyrical cast sterling silver jewelry, especially her popular Tree of Life series.
Linda has turned her artful expertise toward adventure, however, with her new story-based designs. They are part jewelry, part sculpture. They are evocative of times past and future hope; they are poetic steampunk stories told with homage to art and beauty. They are, quite simply, wearable art designed to inspire the imagination and catch the eye.
anthill gallery also presents "The Art of Imagination and Color" by George Ions. George's enchanting landscape paintings are exhibited at The Luna Gallery in The Yellow Moon Cafe and at anthill gallery.
George's oils echo his love of the outdoors, here and in his native County Durham, England. His great passion is for painting landscapes and the wonderful skies that frame them overhead. George explains that the movement of the sun and clouds which change from moment to moment are a constant challenge to capture their fleeting magic on canvas.
Exhibition hours at anthill gallery, 102 N. Front Street, Cobden are Sunday and Wednesday, noon to 4 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, noon to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The Yellow Moon Cafe, 110 N. Front Street, Cobden, is open Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., reopening at 6 p.m. to 10p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

R2RVAA Meeting - Oct. 18, 7 p.m. Palace Pizzeria in Cobden
Karen Hennrich, of Thomas Publishing, will discuss the proposed Arts Page in the 2013 Southern Illinois Tourism Guide at the next River to River Visual Arts Association meeting, which will be Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Palace Pizzeria in Cobden. If you'd like to eat ome of the best pizza around first, that's great - the tables have been reserved for 6:15.
The proposed page will include information about the art centers, galleries, studios and artists in southern Illinois. Tourists visiting the area aren't always aware of the many artists who work and reside in the region, and by placing an ad in the guide, we hope to focus their attention on the opportunities for them to view and purchase local art and crafts.
The Southernmost Illinois Tourism Bureau director, Cindy Cain, and her staff distribute the guides at tourism conventions they attend in large metropolitan areas, and copies of the guide are available at Illinois rest stops and many other places where tourists congregate. In 2013, 60,000 copies of the guide will be printed and distributed.
The cost of a one-page ad is $1,200 and a two-page ad is $1,800. The cost would be split among the art centers, galleries and studios that choose to advertise. We'd like to feature a map to show where the art centers, galleries and studios are located - similar to the one in the 2012 guide listing the vineyards. We are also considering publishing a brochure based on the same information contained in the ad for distribution at tourism offices, local restaurants, cabins, bed and breakfasts and civic centers.
Anyone interested in this advertising is welcome to attend the meeting to get more information. If you are not able to attend the meeting, but are interested, please contact either Karen Hennrich at Thomas Publishing, (618) 549-2799, or me at sharonwittke@yahoo.com. by September 10. Indicating interest does not commit you to advertising - we would like to see how much interest there is in this type of art promotion.

"Fall into Winter" Art Show at Audubon State Park
From Carolyn Jones at Angel Mounds, Indiana,
Hello Friends,
We are so excited to be able to offer an additional juried show for our artist members this year at Audubon State Park! It has been a few years since we have been able to reserve a show date at Audubon and for those of you who have exhibited there before, you know what a great space it is! This exhibit called "Fall Into Winter will require that the artwork (up to 3 pieces) must represent either the fall or winter seasons in some way. There will also be a small entry fee (and I mean very small!) to help cover some of our expenses and new members may join at this time.
Sherry Wilkerson will be coordinating this event so all correspondence must go to her at sherrywilkerson@att.net or call her at 270-830-7457 for any questions. For our members who work with 3D, please give Sherry a call to make sure your work will fit into one of the display cases.
Please read the entry form carefully since the information differs from the requirements associated with our exhibits at Angel Mounds. Drop off is on a Tuesday morning so if you have any problems getting it there at that time, please call Sherry to see if there are any other accomodations for you. We don't want anyone to be left out!
Just in case you forget and send me your info, I will make sure to forward it on to her!
We want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity!
Carolyn

Angel Mounds Exhibit "Anything Goes"
From Carolyn Jones at Angel Mounds
Hello Friends,
Our next exhibit at Angel Mounds, "Anything Goes" is coming in just a few short weeks but not to worry, as the title says, anything may go into this exhibit. We originally planned to call it "Pumpkin Passion" but several members have requested that we have more non-specific theme exhibits so this is for you! There is no date or subject requirements so no excuses! We expect that everyone will have at least one piece on hand they can enter so let's fill up the small gallery! In the case we end up with more artwork than the gallery can hold (what a nice thought!) we may only be able to hang one per artist or on a "first come basis."
Please call 270-826-6674 for more information..
An opening reception is planned for October 13 from 1:00-2:30pm.
Please pass this info on to your artist friends! We accept new members at any time.
