Makanda Vulture Fest - October 20 and 21
Makanda Vulture Fest will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 11 am to 6 pm in Downtown Makanda. This event ends at the scheduled time and camping, alcoholic beverages, and fires or fireworks are strictly prohibited.
Black vultures and turkey vultures fly and swoop in the skies surrounding Makanda each fall. Local residents await their return each fall as an end to the hot summer and the beginning of cooler fall weather. This event is a celebration or the Vulture's annual migration with live music and displays by local artists for purchase.

Tri-State Art Guild Exhibit at Angel Mounds
From the Tri-State Art Guild:
Our next exhibit at Angel Mounds, "Anything Goes" is coming in just a few short weeks but not to worry, as the title says, anything may go into this exhibit. We originally planned to call it "Pumpkin Passion" but several members have requested that we have more non-specific theme exhibits so this is for you! There is no date or subject requirements so no excuses! We expect that everyone will have at least one piece on hand they can enter so let's fill up the small gallery! In the case we end up with more artwork than the gallery can hold (what a nice thought!) we may only be able to hang one per artist or on a "first come basis."
Please see the attachments for entry forms (whichever one is best for you, they are both the same) and by all means give me (Carolyn Jones) a call if you have any questions at 270-826-6674.
An opening reception is planned for October 13 from 1:00-2:30pm.
Please pass this info on to your artist friends! We accept new members at any time.

anthill gallery & vintage curiosities holds exhibit
anthill gallery & vintage curiosities is exhibiting "Fire and Ice" an exciting new exhibition of art featuring the photographic images of travel photographer William G. Schwartz and the mild steel and wood creations of Cobden sculptor Jeff Engbring.
The public is invited to attend an artists' reception on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Sweeping frozen vistas dominate his landscape photography of this most fragile and dynamic part of our world.
His larger works are presented at the Luna Gallery of the Yellow Moon Cafe as well as at anthill gallery.
Jeff Engbring of Cobden uses fire to forge mild steel into delicate sculptural representations of the natural world.
From the tiny wren to the magnificent stag, Jeff's sculptures in both wood and mild steel pay homage to the beauty of nature and its creatures.
Other large sculptures can be seen next door to anthill gallery at Village Art & Gifts in Cobden.
